A Note From Sherri Gelle-Teske, Executive Director at HSPC

It all started five years ago – around the family backyard fire pit. Dave Harvath and his wife Anna were discussing how they could help the less fortunate animals in Portage County. The Harvath family includes two daughters and two furry four-legged members — all animal lovers. Anna thought of a theme to tie into their family business, D & D Automotive Services, Inc, located in Stevens Point. And that’s how a great fundraiser “Mechanics for Mutts” was born!

Mechanics for Mutts has helped MANY animals at the Humane Society of Portage County (HSPC), and has saved many lives in the process. In five years, the fundraiser has donated over $30,000! With the rising costs of healthcare and supplies, we are over-the-top thrilled to accept this donation. This year, Mechanics for Mutts gave HSPC over $8740! With a big BOW-WOW and MEOW — thank you to the entire Harvath family and the team at D&D Automotive Services, Inc.
